A little bit of context

I was a teacher at a VILLAGE OF HOPE PRIMARY SCHOOL in Mwanza, Tanzania, a school for helping vulnerable children to get better and quality education. I was teaching mathematics, ICT and social studies subjects. In 2018, I was decided to establish a day care and pre- primary school for the local children whose parents could not afford to pay for their quality education, uniforms and other day-to-day expenses. I started this school to unused old block at Buswelu County. At the beginning we had 10 children.

Over the last 1 year, the school has grown to accommodate 100 students between the ages of 3 and 6. Of course I can't teach all of these kids alone, so I have employed 2 young, locally based teachers. As the number went up the team was also enlarged. It consisted of teachers and cooks. The place where the school is located is not good and unfriendly to children although we are proving to some extent quality and better education. It is simply there is one old classroom and office with no electricity or running water and two toilet rooms for 100 children.

The school it is a safe space for the children during the day and also provided young mothers with the chance to return to the work due to knowledge and all activities that their children are being cared for throughout the day.

But there’s a problem

We have a problem of lacking classrooms to accommodate all children and other school expenses. Currently we have purchased a ground for constructing a new school that will be able to accommodate more than 200 pupils; I need to ensure that the school can stay open for the benefit of poor children and others. There is no government support in Tanzania for local schools like this one so donations are the greatest opportunity for the school to remain functional. The need for kindergarten places in Tanzania is high and the government provided free Kindergartens, but did not provide enough capacity for all children.

Now we are fundraising to pay for a year’s rent, construction of one class and toilet for Mount Sinai day care and pre-primary school to ensure another year of education for more than 100 children who would otherwise have no access to schooling. Covering this cost will also take off the pressure for me, I have dedicated my life to help these children, and education that they acquiring will allow them to go back to remove the circle of poverty that encounters their families.

You can join us

To cover the rent of the school for one year, it cost us 450$. This money will provide security and ensure that the school can continue to operate. 500$ will cover the costs of constructing toilet and 1500$ will help us to accomplish a new classroom. Therefore the total amount needed is 4500$. Here down we have tried to describe the cost of some various basic equipment on this program.

  • 5$ for one chair( needed chairs are 30) cost $150
  • 5$ for one table for two pupils (needed tables is 15) cost $75
  • 5$ for stationary for one child per year ( 100 pupils) cost $500
  • 10$ for classroom sink for washing hands and faces (one)
  • 4$ for one wood for roof (45 pieces) cost $180
  • $8 for one tin for roof( 40 tins) cost $320
  • $8 for one bag of cement ( 100 bags) cost $ 800
  • $15 for one lorry of sands, stones and fertile soil for garden 20 lorries) cost 300
  • $ 100 for all electricity equipment
  • & 200 for buying bricks
  • $ 500 for spring construction

I'm sure I don't have to tell you what an education will mean to these kids! By just graduating college, these kids will have the power to break the cycle of poverty that is holding their families back.

If you donate today, you will also receive a hand written note of thanks from our directors.

If you pass our campaign onto someone else who also donates, you will be gifted with more good thanks giving, as well as being added to our inner circle of supporters who receive regular updates on the school.
