Campaign Story
Ever since the opening of our Ma’an Lil-Hayat/ L’Arche Bethlehem community in 2009, we have been working daily to create an environment that is inclusive to people with intellectual disabilities. The work hasn’t always been easy, especially since a large part of our society still does not know how to interact with disabled people and just shies away from the topic of disability. This is why at Ma’an we embrace our differences and work hard to discover the gifts that our young people with disabilities can offer the world.
We are proud to say that we have come a long way, and we have achieved many milestones. From the beginning, Ma’an Lil-Hayat founded the project of felt-making and production of felt ornaments, which became the work of our community and an example of our productivity and contribution to society. Also this year we celebrated our 14th anniversary and presence in Bethlehem. In these 14 years, we have met and worked with many wonderful people and we are still amazed and blessed by the help we receive from friends, family, volunteers, and generous benefactors.
During these years, we have grown together as a family and we had our share of beautiful and difficult moments. We have also lived periods of great growth both on a personal level and in the sale of our products. However, this year we are experiencing some financial hardships that may soon jeopardize our mission. This means that a lot of our daily activities with young people with disabilities could be put on hold.
This is why we are now reaching out to our supporters. Your help now could make a difference in the lives of our young people who are the life of our community.
