Los Cantantes de Manila – European Tour 2017

Los Cantantes de Manila (LCDM), a Manila-based community choir. We are group of mostly young singers with a deep passion for choral music, and which continuously hones its talent through rigid training.

LCDM has its roots in Sampaloc, Manila. We started out as a small group rehearsing in a small barangay hall beside PNR's railroad. Now, we continue to rehearse in a small chapel near Dimasalang Bridge. Our members are comprised mostly by financially-challenged members of the society. Despite these limitations, LCDM commits itself to producing excellent and world-class sonority. Aside from numerous championships in local competitions, the group was awarded as the Grand Prix in the 2015 Busan Choral Festival and Competition in South Korea. In 2016, LCDM was invited to participate in the Tolosa International Choir Competition in Spain.

In 2017, LCDM has been invited to represent the Philippines at the following competitions:

1. The International May Choir Competition 2017 in Varna, Bulgaria (a member of the Association Grand Prix European du Chant Choral) on 11 to 15 May 2017;
2. The Harmonie Festival 2017 – International Choral Competition in Limburg – Lindenholzhausen, Germany on 25 to 28 May 2017;
3. The 15th International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf 2017 on 2 to 7 June 2017.

These are three of the most prestigious competitions for chamber choirs worldwide. The competitions bring together choirs from all over the world in order to provide them with the opportunity to compete with each other, as well as to discuss choral literature, interpretation, styles, voice-training and techniques from the different countries represented.

Given the very limited financial capacity of the Choir and most of our members, we are currently raising funds to cover the expenses for our airfare, visa application fees, costumes, board and lodging, etc.. Specifically, we need to raise funds to cover the airfare to and from Germany of our forty (40) members.
