Campaign Story
Dear friends,
I will take part in a charity bicycle ride from London to Paris, to rise/donate money to the European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC). I will be cycling about 380 km over three days from 26.-28. August 2016 along with a team of workmates from my company, Swedish Orphan Biovitrum (Sobi). It's going to be a pretty challenging task for me but with your support I will put all my energy into it and will celebrate the completion of the challenge at the Eiffel Tower on Sunday August 28. Please help people living with haemophilia with a small donation! Every cent counts and helps a lot. I promise to keep you all updated how this challenging bike ride goes. Together with our donations we can help people living with haemophilia.
About the EHC
The European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC) is an international non-profit organisation that represents 45 national patients’ organisations of people with rare bleeding disorders from 27 Member States of the European Union (EU) and most Member States of the Council of Europe. The EHC represents approximately 90,000 people diagnosed with a rare bleeding condition such as haemophilia, von Willebrand Disease (VWD) and other rare bleeding disorders across Europe. However, it is estimated that many more live with an undiagnosed rare bleeding disorder.
About haemophilia
Haemophilia is a rare congenital bleeding disorder that occurs in people with a limited amount of either clotting factor VIII (haemophilia A) or clotting factor IX (haemophilia B). Having haemophilia means that an individual’s body cannot naturally stop the bleeding that occurs once a blood vessel is damaged. These bleeds can be caused both by trauma and stress. If the bleed is not stopped and properly managed it can result in damages to the joints (such as ankles, hips and knees), which can cripple an individual (to the extreme an individual is at risk of losing limbs such as legs and arms) and limit his or her range of movements. Furthermore, intracranial bleeds can be both debilitating and fatal.
About Sobi in haemophilia
Sobi Haemophilia is a part of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi), a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Stockholm, Sweden. We have a history of innovation in haemophilia that stretches back more than 50 years. Today, we continue to build on that history through a global partnership with Biogen, an American biotechnology company, to provide new treatments for haemophilia.

Ups and downs
Update posted by Tiina Tasa at 01:22 pmI don't like very much mountains and ascents when biking but it feels so damn good when you conquer them. The same good are the feelings when doing things over your limits. That's why I do this London-Paris.Only 4 days left...Everybody who makes a donation (even 1 euro is very. . . . .
Next week at the same time...
Update posted by Tiina Tasa at 12:25 pmHi!Next week at the same time I'm biking on UK roads towards Paris. I'm more and more exited but also worried if I'm fit enough for this trip. The number of biking kilometers is growing slowly and tomorrow I will try to bike up to some Estonian hills to get the. . . . .
Why I'm doing this???
Update posted by Tiina Tasa at 07:01 amI biked 91 km yesterday. It was really windy. The second part was also rainy and cold. All my body was so tired in the end. "How the hell I can manage with this London-Paris ride?" was the only thought in my head... if the flat land with 90 km. . . . .
Active training period
Update posted by Tiina Tasa at 01:02 pmMy bicycling year start was not very impressive - I got my bike out only in the middle of May and had only 3 trainings before Tartu bicycle rally. Therefore I needed a "supportive engine" as you can see on the photo :DBUT... A very good motivational hit came just. . . . .
