About LIYSF "Founded in 1959, the London International Youth Science Forum aims to give a deeper insight into science and its deeper applications for the benefit of all mankind; and to develop a greater understanding between young people of all nations." In January 2014, I attended the Session C of the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF), run at the Australian National University in Canberra. I was generously sponsored by the Coomera River and Southport Broadwater Rotary Club to attend the forum, and without their help, it would not have been possible. The NYSF was an invigorating program, which solidified my passion and interest in science. The LIYSF is a partner organisation with the NYSF and was established in 1950 to promote up-and-coming scientists and international exchange. From the ~300 students who attended the NYSF, I was selected as an ambassadors to represent Australia at this prestigious program over July and August. The London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) is a two week residential event held at Imperial College London, with lectures and demonstrations from leading scientists, visits to industrial sites, research centres, scientific institutions and organisations, including world class laboratories and universities. ?Its aims are similar to those of the National Youth Science Forum in Australia and it attracts over 400 of the best science students aged 17-21 years old from more than 60 participating countries. This year the forum will be held from the 22nd of July to the 5th of August 2015. As a participant, I will be in a programme of: Lectures and demonstrations from leading scientists %95%95 Seminars, debates and discussions on scientific topics of world concern Visits to industrial sites and research facilities %95%95 Visits to academic research centres in London, Oxford and Cambridge University Visits to the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum %95%95 Opportunity to present project investigation work at our Science Bazaar Social activities, including discos, inter-hall competitions, a light-hearted international cabaret and an evening of Songs of Home. %95%95 Optional sightseeing tours of London, Stonehenge and Salisbury, Windsor and Hampton Court Optional visits to some of the best shows in London theatres %95%95 Accommodation is in London University Halls of Residence. Meals are provided throughout the Science Forum and free travel to all scientific visits and programmed events. For two weeks, the participants living together as an international community can exchange their ideas and experiences of the world and fulfill the aim of the Science Forum: to give a greater insight into science and its application for the benefit of all mankind. For more information regarding the LIYSF please visit: http://www.liysf.org.uk This opportunity will offer me a chance to develop a variety of scientific research and practical skills, as well as provide insights into the world of research and to establish a professional network. I am very excited to work with students from more than 60 countries around the world. I strongly believe that I will make an excellent ambassador for Australia with your help at this very prestigious event. I would be grateful if you would consider giving some financial support, no matter how small, to help with the cost of attending. What funds do I need? Nothing gained in life; especially experience is free as everything comes with a cost. The 14-day program costs AU$12,000.00 covering airfares, insurance, accommodation, full programme costs, scientific visits, administration fees and other expenses. Therefore, I require financial assistance to attend this prestigious program later on this year. Other ways you can help If you can't make a monetary donation, I still thank you for viewing and considering this international project and merely ask that you help share it across to you may know that can help! Thank you!
