Campaign Story
STORYLINE:
Lola initially presented to the ER on the night of 29.03.2024, due to inflammation in her neck. Three days prior, she had contracted a respiratory viral infection, resulting in fever, body aches, and a sore throat (not COVID, as she tested negative). Although the ER doctor recommended admission, we initially opted for home medication due to insurance coverage issues after contacting them. The doctor prescribed antibiotics with instructions to return if her condition worsened.
However, Lola began vomiting a brownish substance after starting the antibiotics. This led to an inability to eat or drink water as she continued to vomit consistently. Consequently, she was taken back to the ER on the second day of her home treatment. The ER doctor expressed concern that Lola's condition had deteriorated significantly and advised against her returning home, indicating that she was gravely ill and at risk of death if discharged.
Subsequently, Lola was admitted to the hospital on30.03.2024, where she was diagnosed with pneumonia, sepsis, high blood pressure, and kidney failure.

We took my Lola from Philippines to Estonia to try and see how it would be for her to live abroad. It’s cleaner, safer, and overall better for her health (she was no longer coughing and was able to breathe better). However, as the season has changed, she caught a viral infection and has sepsis. We recently uncovered that she actually has a kidney failure and needs treatment/ maintenance for it. We had no clue as everybody back home mentioned nothing of the sort. We needed to bring her to the hospital as her condition worsened. And unfortunately, due to some technicalities with the T&C of her insurance, it won’t be covered and we’d need to pay for it out of pocket.

Mama is back in the Philippines
Update posted by Roselyn S at 03:58 pmMama has returned to the Philippines to resume her medical treatment. She spent ten days in the second hospital undergoing various tests, including blood transfusions, endoscopy,. . . . .
