UPDATE: PLEASE READ ALL:
Lola Cortina, founder of Santuario Felino Rey Ashoka AC, and caretaker of more than 100 cats in 2 shelters, needs your support. She has rescued and taken care of cats, dogs, opossums, birds...even turtles... for the last 18 years. Currently, she has more than 100 cats in her 2 shelters, and that is her main focus. She was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Fortunately, she is not in pain, but needs funds to pay for her treatments and the ongoing shelters' expenses. Her usual fundraising activities - Gringo Bingo and Thematic Evenings, have been canceled during Covid, so we are hoping cat lovers will help her and the cats with kind and generous donations.
Thanks so much!!
Lola Cortina has always worked tirelessly in San Miguel rescuing cats, (as well as other animals) providing necessary veterinary care, and will rush over with supplies when people need help. She is currently taking care of a little over 100 cats, cats who have been abandoned, cats who have nowhere to go when their owners die, and unwanted cats that people in general just dump on her..She has to pay rent for a shelter where she can hold some of the cats..many many others she shares her home with.
ALL funds go directly to Lola's account!!! :) (Takes about a week)
About Sanctuary Felino Ashoka: In Lola's words:
Santuario Felino Rey Ashoka, A.C.
I created this to help orphan kittens and abandoned cats, giving them shelter, socialization, food, veterinary care, neutering and spaying them as soon as they are old enough and finding good adoption homes for them.
To raise consciousness about animals, care and respect towards them, through personal talk and through the local radio station. (Actually Wednesdays between 8 to 8.30 am Radio San Miguel)
Give help to cats of low income families, with veterinary services, medicines and information about the needs and relationships with domestic animals. Create a food bank for this cats – families.
Promote and find support for sterilization campaigns for cats and dogs.
Establish the program of birth control for colonies of stray cats in the city: trap, neuter, vaccine, cut the tip of the left ear, and release the cat back to the colony.
I am making a plea for those of you who care about Lola and her animals to PLEASE make a donation....Whatever you are able, small or large. It all counts...and remember Lola is our true cat Angel. Without her a lot more lives will cease to exist.
