Living Proof

Update posted by Veronica Anderson On Dec 10, 2017

Hi, just wanted to give an update. I'm still taking PT and will be until after the New Year. We are using exercises, and modalities to help strengthen my finger, such as putty, block moving (couldn't do that one because it was too painful), and for soothing afterwards, warm sand, and heat. My PT is trying to break the scar tissue by using a mas-sager that has different attachments. I had my range measurements done this past Friday, and my PT said that although there is improvement, I still have a way to go. There is continued swelling and stiffness; and according to my PT, it could take up to a year to heal completely, if ever. As long as the body is in healing mode, there will be swelling. I'm experiencing quite a bit of numbness, and my finger has a tendency to turn blue! My OT Doctor said that's a normal part of the healing process, ( or perhaps I'm turning into a Smuff!) because the scar from the surgery is preventing full circulation from going into the finger. C'est la vie!
