Little Warrior Primo

Primo was born 11 weeks early due to his mom's condition. She was 28weeks 5 days pregnant with Primo when she tested positive for COVID19. Due to difficulty in breathing and high fever, Primo had to be born via CS to anticipate his mom's impending respiratory failure. Primo was diagnosed with an open blood vessel in his heart, neonatal pneumonia, weak lungs that's giving him a hard time breathing and apnea of prematurity.

Since this is a Covid19 case, he was separated from his mom since day 1 to protect him from acquiring it and he is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) until now. Initially, Primo was intubated and was breathing with the help of a ventilator, he was given meds to strengthen his lungs and for the open vessel in his heart to close. He's receiving breast milk through a feeding tube. Primo also went under phototherapy to reduce jaundice and under the watchful eye of the amazing nursing staff 24 hours a day as they continue to monitor him and hope for the best.

Primo is a real warrior! He barely cries and gives his cutest smiles to his doctors and nurses. He was extubated after more than 2 weeks and is now breathing with a little help of the oxygen. After 25 days, after being cleared from Covid19, Primo finally met his mom. Doctors advised that Kangaroo Care or cuddling would help but Primo will remain in the NICU until he is able to breathe on his own, maintain his body temperature and feed orally. That could be soon, but may take weeks to meet all of that criteria. Their family is not expecting this kind of situation and could use all the help they can get to cover Primo's hospital expenses.Our family are doing everything they can to raise funds to help.
