Campaign Story
As a newborn Ali (now 2. 5 years old) was diagnosed with Leukocyte adhesion deficiency type I (LAD I), a condition which affects 1 individual per million. He suffers from recurrent, life-threatening bacterial infections of the skin, which may develop into large ulcers. Patients are often affected by severe periodontitis later in life, and this may lead to early tooth loss.
Fortunately, Ali received state-sponsored stem cell transplantation abroad, the only cure for the disease, with survival rate after transplantation of 75%.
Unfortunately, he has to receive expensive medication for years ahead, and it is not covered by the National Health Insurance Fund in Bulgaria. It costs his family a sum they cannot afford - between 300 and 400 Euro (depending on the specific medication Ali is prescribed for his changing condition).
We are trying to raise 6 000 Euro to make sure Ali’s medication expenses are covered for the next 15 months.
When we start spending the funds we raise, will post photos of invoices / receipts regularly. Now you can see photos of Ali’s medical documentation and his skin condition. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to send us a message.
