LINGAP PAARAL: Pakikilakbay Patungo sa Pangarap - a fundraising campaign

Access to a standard education is a basic human right. Sadly, this is not the reality for many students. Proverbs 16:16 says that having wisdom and understanding is better than having silver or gold. Thus, this fund-raising campaign is launched with the aim to help rectify educational disparities by raising funds to improve the educational experience of low income but deserving students.

Driven by the vision to have at least one member of the family hold the torch of education to uplift their lives, Sto. Niño Cathedral through the initiative of Rev. Fr. Edgar F. Fabic, diocesan priest of Apostolic Vicariate of Calapan, launched Lingap Paaral last 2013 which is one of the apostolates of Lingap Center under Justice and Peace pillar. This apostolate is currently headed by Lingap Center Coordinator, Mr. Merlito Bonquin, together with different pamayanan coordinators.

Ever since its creation, many deserving students had been part of it. Beneficiaries were carefully chosen and assessed, helping deserving students who want to graduate and give back to society. However, due to scarcity of resources and shortage of funds, they are receiving minimal support and monthly allowances.

These scholars are active members of the Church and the community as a whole. They are engaged in all Parochial activities, such as tree-planting, clean-up drives, fund raising campaign to name a few. Moreover, they also render church services from being sacristans, lectors, psalmist to LCD/TV and sound system operators. The mission does not end in giving them an access to quality education but also in developing them as integral members of the Church

Their dedication and perseverance to finish their education despite the situation they are in inspire me to help and raise funds to support them achieve their dreams. The burning passion reflected on their eyes show their intense desire to finish their education which was once reflected on mine for I was also a scholar who was able to finish my studies with the help and support of the generous ones.

Let us all be part of this Lingap Paaral beneficiaries in reaching their dreams through supporting their educational journey. I am knocking on your generous heart for any amount that you may offer for every student are worthy of an education. Your donation will help in taking off some of the financial pressure of students and families. Let’s be inspired by 2 Corinthians 9:6-8: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
