Our campaign seeks to raise money to allow the installation of photovoltaics system incorporated with farming in a local Old Folk's home, called Beth Shalom. All funds would be used for the project, located in Banten region. A side project would be to fix the hydroponic garden of this home.
The old folk's home operates in the abandoned old folks and children sector. The home provides a means and opportunity for these abandoned individuals to receive the care and shelter that they were unable to obtain on their own or from their immediate families. The home also helps provide studying opportunities for young people from rural areas, including Papua and Kalimantan.
The old folk's home has a few hectares of land used for organic farming and hydroponics, the latter which is no longer working. Our initial plan was to set up a small-scale agrivoltaics garden, which is a garden using solar panels to maximise plant yield while generating enough electricity to support critical systems, which include water pumps, refrigerators, and other equipment necessary for the home to run in the event of an electrical failure. Additionally, the system can be made such that the excess electricity can be sold off to the local power grid, helping reduce the electricity bill and allowing them to allocate the funds to help the elderly.
If our funding goal is met, we would also be able to help repair their hydroponics system, which is currently not working because it has received minimal maintenance, partly due to the lack of funding and expertise. With the funds, we would be able to not only fix the system, but also help provide training for maintaining both the agrivoltaics farm and the hydroponics farm.
Your support would allow us to complete the project, and allow the old folk's home to grow and develop, allowing it to help even more people who are out there, abandoned, left alone, without the ability or means to care for themselves.
