Lets get Learn to Live off the ground

In August this year a group of four will head to North Sulawesi to make 'Learn to Live' a reality. We hope to return with enough foundations for an exceptional 3 week traveling healthcare clinic, that will not only serve and help the people of North Sulawesi, but will inspire and educate our up and coming healthcare professionals from Australia and the USA and hopefully one day the world.

Our tipping point is $4,300. This would include 1/3 of the travel expenses for 4 of the people and food for the team for the week. Raising these funds are crucial to getting Learn to Live off the ground. Without these funds it will be impossible to begin our venture in North Sulawesi. For everything raised beyond the tipping point the funds would then allow us to also rent the film equipment from Jason, and cover the cost of homestays for the 8days.

Budget Breakdown: $6805.00 USD Travel [$4300.00] There will be a total of four people who have graciously given their time to travel to Indonesia to get this project off the ground. Everyone involved has financed his or her own airline ticket. Plane tickets were bought on www.kayak.com, to get the best deal. The team is flying from Los Angeles via Singapore then on to Denpasar, Indonesia. This flight has totaled $1457.00 per person. The flights from Denpasar to Manado will be with two airlines going via Jakarta. These total too $375.00 round trip. We need to credit them back $1000.00 towards each plane ticket for their time, effort and generosity. The total cost for each persons air travel will be up to $2000.00 so it is essential that we try to give at least half of what they paid for there tickets.

4WD and Driver for 8 days in North Sulawesi - $300.00USD. This is a crucial part of our trip for scouting the area.

Food [$800.00] We will be eating local cuisine averaging from 5-10$ USD per day. Each person over 8 days will need $25.00 USD each per day.

Accommodation [$820.00 over 8 days] We will be spend two nights in Denpasar, Indonesia at: Balisani Padma Hotel. The total for 4 people for two nights is: $180 USD. We then fly to Manado where we will stay for 7 nights. We will be staying at the ‘Happy flower home stay, Tomohon’. We have estimated $640 for the seven days. The home stay is giving us a good rate because of the family connections in the area.

Supplies (Camera) [Equipment rental: $885.00] Jason has generously donated his time and his equipment at a discounted rate. A Canon 5D package. Camera body, lenses, and batteries/ memory cards rents for between $250-$350 a day depending on type of lens package and number of accessories. Usually equipment houses do a three-day week. They will charge you for three days and you get the gear for the week. 250 x 3= 750. Jason will be charging $45.00 a day for a three-day week. 45 x 3 = 135. 135 + 750 = $885.00
