Mayala, known as Teacher May to her students, friends, and colleagues has been a dedicated public servant, shaping the minds of Filipino youth in Laguna public elementary schools for over 2 decades. May is known for being a tough but kind hearted cookie, and as the youngest of 7 surviving children she is lovingly called Tiny at home.

The few days between Christmas 2018 and New Year 2019 were truly life changing for our Aunt/Tita, Tiny as she was diagnosed with Cancer. In a drastic turn of events, Tita Tiny lost her voice as a breathing tube had to be placed on her throat, and a feeding tube inserted down her esophagus, due to the risk of her breathing channels closing because of the numerous cancerous growths found along her nasopharyngeal tract.

Upon various tests and consultations with medical experts Tita Tiny was advised to undergo 8 sessions of Chemotheraphy, with the drug Rituximab as the main component for her treatment, to start immediately as she is racing against time to stop the progression of her Cancer from stage 3 to 4.

Rituximab is an expensive drug, each dose is Php 102,659.50 or $1960.87, and it has no alternatives.

We, her family, along with our Tito Hoper her husband of 13 months, and our Grandmother Necesitas, her mother would like to seek your help.

We ask for prayers as Tita Tiny faces this battle head on, with the goal that she be free from this disease in the near future.

Your benevolence and generosity will also go a long way. Any amount that you will be able to send for this cause will go directly to Tita Tiny’s treatment, with her and her family’s heartfelt and eternal gratitude.

Brave face on: no more feeding tube but behind the beautiful pink scarf is her breathing tube. Mayala tries to live life as normal as possible, attending the graduation ceremony of her beloved students and occasionally going out with her husband Hoper, also in the photo.
