"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."   Hi There,   I'm a Teach for India fellow, and a grade 3 teacher at low income school in Chennai. The students of my class are keen on pursuing a community upliftment project. Coming from families of vegetable vendors, domestic helpers, drivers, construction workers, single parents, low/no income groups themselves, the children strongly believe that having a clean community is the need of the hour. As a design for change, the kids have come up with their own community project creating powerful movement through running cleanliness drives, rolling out street plays and message posters to citizens, signing up a "promise" on a promise sheet from every house in the community, sharing their idea of right things to do at every doorstep, having an awareness drive through the community, cleaning away the streets, placing dustbins, and painting happiness all over. This a HUGE exposure and access activity for our children, through which they will be a part of a global program - Design for Change.   To do any of these, the project needs your support to fund drums, chain holders, poster/pamplet making, paints, etc for atleast 30+ streets in the community. Even 1USD *will* make a difference, so please do not hesitate. The class and I will be eternally thankful (And exchange our little rewards) to you for supporting the team to explore a wonderful opportunity to express their own ideas for a better world and implement them to enable change within their community.   Please inbox me if you've any questions.
