My name is Igor and I just started my PhD studies in Food Science (Latvia University of agriculture, Jelgava, Latvia). I believe that big amounts of argi-food co-product waste is a big economic and ecologic problem. That is why my PhD thesis are concentrated on food waste minimising and reprocessing possibilities.
Norwich Research Park (Norwich, UK) organise international conference “Total Food 2014” which focus on the sustainable exploitation of agri-food co-products and related biomass, thereby helping to minimise waste. http://www.ifr.ac.uk/totalfood2014/ This is three day event and it will provide an open forum to highlight recent developments and to facilitate knowledge transfer between representatives of the agri-food industries, scientific research community, legal experts on food related legislation and waste management, and consumer organisations.
Unfortunately, Latvia is small and our university budget is unable to award any grants for student scientific work. Only student registration fee in “Total Food 2014” is 385 €. Additional costs include trip from Latvia to England (425€) and partly B&B accommodation for 4 night.
I sincerely ask You for help to participate in this important scientific event. It will be our common project and I will include Your name in my reports with sponsor title! Thank You! Yours faithfully, Igor
