Legal Fees

Hello Everybody,

My name is Francis and I’m looking to raise about $5000 to fund the legal costs of a suit I want to bring against one of the tertiary institutions in Ghana.

I recently applied to the institution to enroll in their law program this Fall. Per their admission process, they were required to inform ALL qualifying candidates of a date for writing an entrance exam- a necessary step in the process. Contrary to this obligation, they failed to notify me, and others, as I would subsequently find out. By not giving us the opportunity to write the exam, they have effectively kicked us out of the process and denied us the right to a fair process.

I have provided irrefutable evidence that an email they claim to have sent was not received. They, on the other hand have refused to support their claim with any form of evidence. All attempts on my part to find a reasonable settlement have been met with arrogant contempt and even derision. I am therefore left with little choice but to seek redress in court.

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to hire lawyers and fund other legal costs.

It might be worth mentioning that I applied to another university and was shortlisted to write an entrance exam which I wrote last week. I could have chosen to “let it go”, as I suspect the others who suffered similar fate may have done. However, doing so would only exacerbate the canker of negligence and a lack of accountability which are quite prevalent in my society. It would also affirm the view, particularly of individuals and organizations who commit such acts of recklessness, that aggrieved parties would almost certainly not seek redress in the courts.

This campaign will among other things help ensure the right thing is done going forward.
