ClimateForce2041: My Journey To Antarctica

I am a certified Leadership Coach, YOGA Trainer and a mental health Counsellor. I have been selected as one of the 150 participants of a diverse group of people from across the world who will be participating in Robert Swan’s “Leadership on the Edge” program, the 2041 Climate Force Antarctic Expedition (17-28 March, 2022). Being a part of this journey I hope to explore the magnificent landscape of Antarctica and gain first-hand knowledge of this fragile ecosystem that is home to some of the most resilient and unique life on the planet. I hope to learn exercises led by renowned experts on issues of climate change, sustainability, and energy use with days filled with life lessons on leadership and team building.

The expedition fee of this absolutely unique journey to this remote location is priced at ~$18,500 and the to and fro Lodging, Air fare would cost another ~$10,000, so I need on an estimate ~$28,000 in total of which I hope to pay for as much of this as I can out-of-pocket; however, any donation given to this campaign - big or small - will help me TREMENDOUSLY to cover the ~$18,500 expedition fee due in mid-March 2022.

Robert Swan once said, “The Greatest Threat to Our Planet Is the Belief That Someone Else Will Save It” and I am confident that with everyone’s help, the goal of this expedition can be made attainable and Together we can inspire Change where it truly matters!

Along with eternal gratitude I would be able to commit my time and expertise to help you create an abundant life. The offerings include:

  • Complimentary Life & Career Coaching programs ~$500 and above
  • Tailormade complementary YOGA & FITNESS programs $400 - $500
  • Exclusive Meditation & GITA CHANT programs $300-$400
  • Exclusive invites to a series of talks and experiential showcase of antarctica travel and making you a part of action plans. ~$200 and above
  • Complimentary Alternate Therapy programs for people with special needs (will be gifting away 50 sessions)

Another amazing offering

*If eligible for any of the above offerings you can even gift these to any loved one

Why MONIKA?

As a 12 year, I understood the value of life when I lost the very source of my life, my parents and started living every moment of life to the fullest, leading from the front in Ecology Protection & Awareness, Politics, Sports and Performing Arts at college which shaped my life. These life lessons taught me the perspective of living beyond yourself - Learn every day, share knowledge and wisdom; touch as many lives with compassion as possible and make mother Earth a beautiful place for mankind. As a Certified Life and Leadership Coach my emphasis is on enabling people to discover one’s authentic self. Being in wellness space I also have Certifications in YOGA TTC 200hrs, YOGIC Cognition, YOGIC Neuroscience, NLP and Animal Reiki, which has provided me a framework to manage my inner needs and desires, and when applied to communities and societies, I think it can be a toolkit for sustainable living and global change. I think practically applying the principles of yoga on an individual level can lead to large-scale change in our relationship to our planet.

With such a purpose nurtured and cultured in me, the aim in life is to make my small contribution towards making this planet better not only for the current generation but also for the future generations. I wish to inspire my friends, family, colleagues, seniors, peers and community by acquiring a global perspective about Environment and Climate Change. I wish to become a motivator and role model to emphasise on behavioural change in people making them understand that development does not necessarily mean harming environment.

I wish to expand the horizons of my understanding of Climate change through this expedition and to utilise my public dealing abilities to expand the reach of this campaign of Climate change and turn it into a massive movement of the people because only when everyone is on board can we be successful in saving and restoring the glory of our beautiful planet.

The Antarctic Treaty

The Antarctic Treaty was signed in Washington on 1 December 1959 by the 12 nations & now has 52 signatories, 28 Consultative Parties which became effective on 23 June 1961and has been recognised as one of the most successful international agreements.

The Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty was signed in Madrid on October 4, 1991 and entered into force in 1998. It designates Antarctica as a “natural reserve, devoted to peace and science”. The Environment Protocol sets forth basic principles applicable to human activities in Antarctica and prohibits all activities relating to Antarctic mineral resources, except for scientific research.

The primary purpose of the Antarctic Treaty is to ensure "in the interests of all mankind that Antarctica shall continue forever to be used exclusively for peaceful purposes and shall not become the scene or object of international discord."

The current moratorium that bans drilling and mining in Antarctica can be reviewed after the 50-year anniversary of the ratification, which will occur in 2048. However, Robert’s goal is to increase awareness now and garner support by the year 2041 (the 50-year anniversary of the signing) to ensure the continued protection of the Antarctic Treaty so that the last great wilderness on Earth is never exploited.

Why 2041?
