One great evening after a cup of coffee and deliberations about football and happenings in our community and society a brilliant idea for the generations was born. A group of around eight guys in the dusty streets of a small suburb, Githurai 44 decided to take on an ambitious mentorship project. Ray, Kevin, Ritchie, Arita, Geoffrey, Jeff, Dennis but to mention a few came up with an ambitious idea to start a mentorship club that was centered towards youth boys’ and girls’ football.

Uncertainties and necessity are the mothers of invention and COVID-19 made us realize that there was a gap in our society that a lot of community elders and the government at large had either refused to address or had assumed its importance entirely.

That is where Laveen 44 Youth Sports training and mentorship Club for kids U-18 in the small suburb of Githurai 44 was born. Located in majorly low-income areas, where families with kids are generally disadvantaged, but have a passion for Football as a sport brought about a means to an end and automatically the future for these disadvantaged families looked promising all of a sudden.

This new initiative started as a mentorship program for the young boys in society as a result of Covid-19 and school cancellation effects to deter them from engaging in ills in the society such as drugs, thuggery, alcoholism, and pre-marital sex. It has worked well so far but economic constraints at the moment make it difficult for the group to get the kids the right tools of the trade, soccer wear, football facilities, and grounds to play on among other teaching aids.

For well-wishers and lovers of the future generations please feel free to look up what this group of fearless guys is doing and assist as much as you can because an opportunity like this for our future generations only comes once in a lifestyle.
