The Last Souls
After saving the lives of more than 1500 abandoned pups in the western part of Romania, the country known by the animal rescuers around the world as “ the land of death”, I am now in a situation that forces me to find a way for our sad story to reach the kind people who really feel sorry for the most unfortunate souls. You are my only hope, the people with a heart of gold who know that any donation, no matter how small, can make a difference for those who need any help they can get to survive.
I still have in my care some of the victims of the Romanian heartless way of dealing with pets, by abandoning the pups to die from exposure instead of spaying and neutering the potential mothers and fathers. Those innocent souls, for which I am determined to do anything I still can, are 18 young dogs, aged between 2 and 4, former abandoned pups, now in a desperate situation. They are the last ones of more than 1500 pups saved by our small association, until severe health problems forced us to end our devoted activity of almost 14 years. Until I find again adoption for them, they need support for their foster place, foster care, for food and medical treatment. As very young pups of 1-2 months, the little angels had been abandoned in the fields during the winter. Fortunately, their gruesome fate was changed when our rescuer, who used to spend many hours every day searching for pups in the bushes, found them and brought them into our home. There, these girls and boys had lived happily together with dogs of all ages and sizes and with circa 50 cats. They were vaccinated, spayed and neutered, and even had passports done before they lost their home and the support of those who saved them. What happened? Several months ago, I found myself unable to continue my work, when severe symptoms put my own life in danger. I had several surgeries and I have been under medical supervision and treatment since. In the meantime, the shelter was lost, the pups have lost their adoptions, the volunteers went to help other rescuers and carried the support of the donors with them.
