HELP US TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE CENTRE OF DISABLED CHILDREN IN ETHIOPIA
The Cause
This year we hope to complete a project that has been in the works since 2003. The Kilimanjaro Challenge is the brainchild of the late Dun George. During a visit to Ethiopia, the good priest was moved by the plight of disabled children who had been abandoned by their families. His seed of good intention has since grown into a 1.2 million project that will house 200 disabled children once completed. The idea is to cover the costs of the Centre for Disabled Children in Bonga, Ethiopia which will include a wide range of needs, such as life-altering provisions such as housing, education and care.
The Challenge
15 years in the making, this initiative has seen over 200 individuals take part in the challenge.
Along the way, the team will climb Mount Kilimanjaro, a challenge to clear their minds and gear them up for the real mission ahead. This once in a lifetime challenge is an everyday reality for these children – it’s this that motivates us to keep pushing on.
The journey will come to an end in Ethiopia, where the group will visit the village and meet the children who will benefit from the much-needed fund raising.
Each team member will be financing their own travels, which means that every single euro raised will go towards charity.
