1.1 Historical Background

Our Basketball Foundation was established in 2009 at a rural school in Plumtree with the main objective being to identify the young ladies that are less privelegded but very talented in the basketball sport code. Basketball is a vehicle they use for their development. We are very happy that we can proudly report that we have had powerful breakthroughs about what the program has done. We started with nine young girls in 2009 but we now have over ninety young ladies. We have four departments which are : Mini basketball ( 5-11 years) , Development side (12-16 years), Juniors also known as cadets (16-20 years) and finally our Senior team that plays national league. This team has been involved provincially , nationally and regionally. We are working with other teams local and outside the country in advocating for female and no selective or discrimination by gender to participation and play. We have had opporunities to visit South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique , Swaziland and we have also hosted and we are still hosting a tournament that highlights and commemorate the 16 Days Awareness Campaign to gender based violence. In 2017 we had thirty two ( 32) primary Schools and twenty eight (28) senior teams from the region.

1.2 Purpose of the Fundraise

We are therefore travelling to Europe in Spain in particular in August for a training camp and having some few games. We have some players with so much potential that we would like to expose and have them scouted so that they make a break and get to the Europe market, for better basketball opportunities. Spain has a great and respectable basketball programme which nurtures from a very tender age. We also want to explore avenues that no other team has done locally. The team has to leave on the 14th of August and return on the 29th of August 2017. The team wants to use the training camp and practise matches in Spain as preparation for the FIBA AFRICA games to be hosted in September by Gaborone in Botswana.
