Kristin & Jenny’s road to a queer baby

Dear friends and strangers,

We are Kristin and Jenny Ward, who met about 5 years ago after we both had lived in Berlin for a few years. Kristin is from Sweden, Jenny from the UK, and during our years together we have built a loving and respectful relationship and with that, a wish to create our own little family.

Two years ago we started the process and our road to having a baby. Little did we know, it would become quite painful and heartbreaking, and financially (and emotionally) stressful. As a non-straight couple in Germany, there is little to no financial help to get, and when we visited a fertility clinic in June 2020, they also needed us to be married. This was already planned, but cancelled due to Covid-19, so instead we rushed to get married in September, without our families due to the same reason. And then, finally we could proceed with the first inseminations. The first two, one in October and one in December, didn't take. But then in March, we got pregnant! Kristin went (without Jenny, again due to the pandemic) for the first examinations and in week 8 she got to hear the heartbeat and could see the little bean in the ultra sounds. But then, entering week 10, something started to feel wrong and it all ended in a miscarriage. Devestating. And with that, we have already spent over 6.500 euros in the process, and now we have to start over.

We want to move forward, and to reduce our financial stress, we are reaching out to you to help with whatever little contribution you feel like you could give. It would help us tremendously, just to enable us to continue our journey before Kristin gets too old (she is turning 40 next year, after all!).
