Coming back from the earthquake in Nepal inspired me to organize a curry night for Nepal.

In April 2020, I volunteered in Nepal and experienced two earthquakes that devastated the country. "While in Nepal, our team of volunteers began distributing aid with money raised online and locally. Seeing the positive impact aid has had on those affected, we all realized that none of us can stop helping others when we get home. Aid needs to continue as long as possible."

So here's what I did: "As soon as I got home, I decided to have a curry night to help with the GVI Earthquake appeal. I'm a big fan of traditional Nepalese food and I think people will be interested to see what Nepalese people cook and eat. We also held raffles from local businesses, licensed bars, presentations and photo displays of our volunteer team's work. A hundred people turned up and we ended up raising over £1,000!"

I recommend spreading your ideas to as many people as possible, because you never know who might be willing to help. She added: "Come on! Remember the reasons for your original decision and stay motivated. And make a list!"
