Help build a Kids Petting Zoo in Herradura!! Read more to understand why building a petting zoo for the children in this region is a mayor contribution to the community's economy, education and culture; as well as a humanitarian act of love for nature and future generations...

There's a beautiful corner property located on the main street to Herradura Beach owned by a lovely 87 year old indigenous woman. She has tended her land and farm animals for many years with devotion. She has also passed her passion for mother earth and all its creatures down to her children and their children.

Tourism has rapidly developed Herradura over the past couple of decades. Clearing out lots of land for residential and commercial use. This has also increased the land value tremendously, making it harder and harder to cover property taxes. And with the increased cost on basic needs like grains, services, etc. Offers have been made to buy the land and take it off her hands.

Her grandaughter Sandy lives in Orotina and travels daily to help her grandmother clean the property and put away her ducks, chickens and other four legged friends in the pen. She expressed how much it would mean for her family and the animals to stay on the land. They recently gave away a pair of sheep that they loved and cared for 12 years because the expenses involved in keeping them are hard to meet and they are in good hands now with a new owner.

The idea of starting a petting zoo will generate a passive income for the work already provided daily. Sandy and her relatives clean the animals and pick up the property. They have raised all the farm animals to be super friendly and can easily accommodate open hours for the public to visit and play.

This will also generate jobs for the growing community and can become a healthy attraction for everyone. While at the same time conserve a piece of land for mother earth and her animals. And since the main amount of visitors will be children, we've designed a 12-15 minute guided tour to get to know the place and you can stay on the property for as long as you desire within open hours.

Spending time with animals and getting familiar with the responsibilities involved in their care are valuable lessons for the little ones. All we need is help with the municipal, health & sanitary permits to get started!

We need to build secure fencing and more pens to bring back the other animals they have temporarily placed in new homes. The business permit requires a bathroom and water facilities for sanitary purposes. And a small wooden stand for the entrance and picnic area.

If you would like to join our cause and help start this idea, please share this campaign with your friends and neighbors :)
