LOCKDOWN PAINS

During this lockdown period due to the quarantine here in the Philippines, I have experienced extreme abdominal pain, which began on April 2, 2021. I have consulted several doctors and have conducted a hepatobiliary ultrasound, which revealed that I have gall stones in my gallbladder. These stones are identified as the cause of the continued abdominal pain that I experience until today.

EXTREMITIES

At very extreme occasions, these abdominal attacks persist for a week and render me unable to eat nor drink anything, which causes dehydration among many other issues. My most recent attack happened just this Wednesday, August 4, 2021 -- I was unable to eat nor drink anything for over 24 hours. And worst of all, when I contacted several hospital's Emergency Rooms for admission, there were no rooms available within the immediate time frame.

CONSULTATION WITH SPECIALISTS

Upon consultation with a gastroenterologist, the doctor suggested the removal of the gallbladder through surgery, as there is a risk of gall stones blocking the pathways in the digestive system. Ultimately, this may cause pancreatitis and is fatal if left untreated. Thus, I was referred to a surgeon. The surgeon has recommended laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, which may cost up to Php200,000 / $4,000, after insurance costs.

Although at the moment, my surgeon does not deem the surgery as an emergency, it is still extremely urgent. In fact, my surgeon recalled a recent patient who decided to postpone their surgery for several months. The next time they visited the doctor, they were already experiencing jaundice and pancreatitis, which cost them more in the long run.

A donation for my surgery now likewise means peace of mind for all of us, so that it hopefully may not turn into the case described above.

I have been the breadwinner and sole earner for my family, consisting of my mother, who is a cancer survivor and thus, being unable to work, and my little sister, who I am currently sending off to college.

My insurance covers but a small amount of the surgery and still leaves a huge amount to raise, which is currently my goal with this fundraiser.

In more recent times, I have become a very private individual, who prefers to assist in the sidelines and background for any friends and communities in need. I am now airing this story out in hopes of assistance in any way, shape, or form.
