The Kindergarten Project is a teaching and learning support program by the non-profit organisation, Involvement Volunteers International. In July 2016 I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this Project!
I will be working with the Kindergarten education of 4-5 year old children in the village of Penestanan Kajain, located in the Ubud area of Bali. The learners are able to attend this Kindergarten for free, and are right at the start of their school careers. Involvement Volunteers International have an open, established long term partnership with local ground operators of this area and implement well established programs to bring together an in depth knowledge of the local needs and challenges with student learning to enhance value to the local communities. Through the Kindergarten Project I will be able to help and encourage children to learn and grow creatively, teaching language, communication skills and other primary learning areas to introduce English as a second language. This will provide invaluable knowledge and skills for them further in their lifelong learning process. Personally, as a current Kindergarten classroom teacher in a NSW Department of Education school and current Masters of Education postgraduate student at the University of Wollongong, I am excited to offer the knowledge, skills and passion I hold towards teaching and learning for these students. The funding to support this project will allow me access to on-the-ground project support from Involvement Volunteers International, as well as local accommodation, food and airport transfers. If we are able to pass the fundraising amount for this project, any additional funds will be used to collect and provide teaching and learning resources to further support the Kindergarten Project.
