Campaign Story
Kalinga sa Kalye-Saklolo is a self-initiated fundraising, with my former high school classmates, friends, church members and family members, aimed to extend help to our homeless and transient fellow Filipinos dwelling in the streets of Manila. Amid COVID19 and the Enhanced Community Quarantine implemented in the country, the poor dwellers in the streets of the city are more vulnerable not only for getting sick, but also becoming hungry by day.
Without the usual human traffic that lend them alms, without work and being transient, they do not have the means to sustain themselves, and they have the least chance to receive help (in cash or kind) from the local government. We have started the fundraising drive through the generous support of our friends and family members, while we ourselves are not well off.
I am seeking your generosity and kindest heart to share any amount you can give to continue our drive to help and care for those who are in the streets. With the little money we put together, we can come up with the much needed resources to provide food packs and hygiene kits for the least of our brethren.
We started with the first wave of relief package distribution on April 13, 2020 to 48 families. Though our goal was only to come up with 92 food packs and hygiene kits (symbolic of our high school batch), we see the need to sustain the project and extend throughout Metro Manila, where no help gets to our fellow Filipinos.
We cannot do this on our own. We need your help. We need your generosity as well as your prayers for our the least of our brethren, more so that quarantine period is indefinite. We know you might be anxious as to how you will also sustain your need in this pandemic, but we believe in your goodness of heart, and that we put our little money together, we can come up with something bigger.
Every relief pack we give costs 550.00 - 625.00 Php which includes 2.5 kg of rice, milk, coffee, sugar, canned goods, instant noodles, powdered juice, mixed of sweets for kids, a loaf of bread and two bars of soap for bath and laundry. This is way too short to sustain them for long, probably just enough for a week. Our goal is to reach out to more people and help them in this crisis situation.
We know that some of you are willing to help on your own, yet are afraid to go out there. We are braving the situation, and we are more encouraged with your continuous financial help for others. You may send us a message for other means of transactions for your donation, as we pray that God return you with great and bountiful favors.
