#JustBeatIt Jen’s Breast Cancer Treatment

Hello everyone. My name is Ron and I’m here to tell you how I discovered the length and depth of the love I feel for my wife. I wish to spend the rest of our lives in a bountiful situation not in terms of material things but just by being in each other’s lives and in the life of our daughter.

Since last September when we discovered the lump, time had flown in a manner that we haven’t really noticed or had the time to really accept what was happening. She’d been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Stage 2a and had undergone Mastectomy (right breast removal). For the days to come, she will be subjected to 3 more Chemo sessions. She just finished her 1st session last November 8.

Last November 28, her FISH test (HER2) results came positive, with this, she'll be needing to undergo Herceptin treatment for 18 sessions which will cost roughly 160,000 PHP (3,000++ USD) per session.

The first month of this journey was the hardest seeing everything as to fall apart and as if I can experience first-hand all the sufferings of my wife. Even before this, whenever I see her having just a headache, it already takes a lot of toll in her tolerance for pain. That’s why I’m surprised to see the change in her with the renewed faith in God. She decided not to give up.

It wasn’t easy for both of us but this situation made me stronger as well. We take comfort and refuge in each other more than ever. We became closer.

I know that God has a purpose for this and this belief alone comforts me and lessens the pain I feel for Jen. I wanted to give her everything—the best care that I could muster from myself and give her all the best options to alleviate her sufferings as we both undergo this journey.

Now I am casting a net of hope here in the ocean of friends and strangers for the sake and welfare of my wife. And I am humbled by this experience to discover I love her more than ever. I want her to know that we’re in this fight together no matter what. When this is over, we will laugh again and will continue to push for our dreams with God guiding our ways—always.

Any amount of assistance we may receive, will be like an ocean dropping into a river, overpowering all our emotional and financial difficulties. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.
