Jovel’s Last Push for Kidney Transplant

Sept. of 2017 when I was diagnosed by a sickness called ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) secondary to CGN (Chronic Glomerulonephritis), and my nephrologist told me that I need to undergo Emergency Dialysis. I am Jovel Bulan, 29 years old, and this is my story fighting against Renal Disease:

At first, I thought that Emergency Dialysis was a one time treatment to cure my sickness. But I was really wrong, after my emergency dialysis my nephrologist told me that I need to maintain dialysis for three times a week and four hours per treatment or find a kidney donor for a kidney transplant. Of course, I went to dialysis. First four months of my journey in dialysis was a disaster, I am in and out to the hospital, operated by VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) because of pneumonia, rushed to ER due to acute respiratory failure, depressed, sudden change of emotions, and really don't know if I can survive on this kind of battle. But still, I am lucky because I was surrounded by a positive vibes people around me, my special someone, family, friends, colleagues and even my medical teams.

June of 2018, when my cousin volunteered to be my kidney donor. with no hesitation, we go to pre-kidney transplant work up at NKTI (National Kidney Transplant and Institute), we were compatible and matched. On the end of the phase of our work up, I have been cleared and ready for transplant operation, but there's something wrong with my donor. She has a kidney stones on her left kidney (which supposed the kidney that will be given to me). Our transplant doctor rejected my donor. Of course, I feel so sad on the result. but still, I keep my faith on God and continue fighting on my battle.

February of this year, when my nephew from my cousin volunteered to be my donor. Again, with no hesitation, we undergo to pre kidney transplant work up at the same institution. We are compatible and currently PASSED their ethics committee evaluation. We are heading towards to our laboratory work ups and hoping to be cleared for Kidney Transplant Operation.
