Campaign Story
Wildlife Conservation and Environmental Society (WICES) is a charitable organization working to ensure the protection of unprotected ecosystems and their conversion to protected areas in Cross River State, Nigeria.
Saving wildlife is a core mission. Why? Because endangered species are disappearing at an alarming rate. But even in the face of threats like poaching, habitat loss and overuse of natural resources, we are aiming at creating a better future for wildlife every day.
Protecting these species also contributes to a thriving, healthy planet for people’s health and well-being — from forests that slow climate change and filter water to oceans that provide more than one-sixth of the world’s food.
The causes of habitat destruction and species extinction are associated with poverty, lack of awareness, basic amenities, capacity building, inadequate source of livelihood, illiteracy and poor forming methods.
Habitat loss is the biggest threat to wildlife today. The reduction and degradation of wildlife habitat continue to expose wild animals especially endangered species such as Drills, to hunting and natural disasters.
Your donation will help us organize a wildlife campaign in communities – discouraging wildlife trade, local hunting of endangered species and keeping of wild orphanage babies as pets.
