‘John and Rosine families cry’

Muraho? This is a greeting in our local language.

I am Wellars from Rwanda, and I work for a community based organization.

I have known John Mugema and his family since 2017.Mugema is Motorcyclist in City of Kigali and used to take me from home to workplace, on his motorcycle he got on a bank loan. His wife Mary used to work temporarily in one of the bar (currently closed) in her location Karuruma as a cleaner.Since the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the John’s family of 5 children is at a rented home and didn’t pay the rent for 3 months. In addition to that, children are not eating for days up to now. John came at my home and told me about the difficulties he is facing, and didn’t go back home fearing that he will be ashamed for not bringing some food and materials at home. At the time I am launching this campaign, John is at my home and I am arranging to help him just to survive for 2 days.

For the family of Rosine ( this single mother, was a teacher at a private primary school, and her contract has been suspended due to the COVID pandemic) and herSister (student), I met them at the church where we serve in a Christian choir. Rosine and her Sister live also in a rented house. With a bank loan they used purchase house equipments in the middle of 2019, they didn’t pay the rent for months and didn’t pay back the loan for 3 installments. Rosine called me this morning crying…

This campaign aims at helping 2 families to be able to pay the rent for 3 unpaid last months and if possible for the next 3 months ahead. In addition, the funds should help the families to get meals and hygienic materials for that period. The fund will further help the 2 families to create viable alternative businesses for the future to be able to survive and back to normal process of paying back their loans. Remember that charity begins at home, but should not end there, and we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

May your charity increase as much as your wealth

Thank you.
