Jasmine’s Journey – Malta

Jasmine, our daughter, was born on 3rd of January 2022 after 18 hours of labour. Unfortunately things did not go as planned and she ended up without oxygen for over 15 minutes.

She was immediately taken to NPICU for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) for cooling therapy and she stayed there for about one month. After returning home we started to realise that things were going to be tough for both her and us as parents.

At 4 months she started suffering from infantile spasms and we spent a whole year in and out of the hospital where we stayed for weeks and sometimes months.

As from December Jasmine started to improve medically, however she requires daily therapies to work on her skills in order to continue fighting and improve! Below one can see various types of therapies that she does on a daily basis and you can also follow her journey through her Facebook page:

Apart from these daily therapies she also requires various equipment, as well as intensive therapies which are normally one to two weeks long where she is given intensive treatment. She is currently being fed through an NG Tube, but for the last couple of months we have been working with her therapists to help improve her feeding skills.
