Janneth’s Scoliosis Surgery

Hello and welcome, my name is Janneth Zhou. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Adolescent Scoliosis since I was about 12 and it’s very slowly gotten worse. I have one curve at the bottom and one at the top. My bottom curve over the past few years and has been giving me very bad sciatica pain to the point where I honestly can’t even sit still for more than 10 minutes. I also can’t play sports properly anymore and my back and legs just always hurt and I’m scared because my scoliosis will slowly just get worse and so will my pain.

So yes, here I am, trying the best I could to prevent it from getting worse. I was doing intensive exercise, pilates & hydrotherapy for scoliosis, I had tried different pain management routes, physical therapy and Chiropractic care. Nothing has helped

I have a severe, nearly 70° thoracolumbar scoliosis, S shaped, as you can see in the photo.

Also, I’ve been feeling pain and discomfort for the last 3 years, that’s when I decided to share my #scoliosisjourney to all of you. There are days when I feel overwhelmed and drowned in discomfort, for about the past year the pain has been almost unbearable and It has been a long and challenging journey

My doctor doesn’t have seen a lot of progress, and is getting worse and worse and they have conclude that the time has come for spinal surgery to correct my severe scoliosis.

My top curve is 70 degrees, my lower curve is 45 degrees. My ribs and body have contorted to compensate these two severe curves. Because of the curves and other factors in my spine, the only surgery option is a full-spinal fusion. I had the spine surgery in January and have been working towards recovery ever since. Even with my surgeon not charging us, the surgery cost almost $400,000. Now I am in physical therapy but I've been in and out of the doctor for pain. Any donations help with medical costs and bills.

Scoliosis with the time, can affect lungs, heart, stomach and other parts of your body. God made us so perfect, but when you have a deformity of this kind, it affects your whole body. I don't have all this money, but we do have faith that your help can make a difference and with this surgery can help me get the pain away
