Jack’s battle against the deadly Ehrlichiosis

Update: Blood transfusion is currently ongoing. His platelet, although still low, jumped from 15 to 34 out of 200. Maybe we were right to bring him home for a day. His red blood cells continue to deplete, maybe from low platelet? His white blood cells are also still low. We're also hoping for him to not exhibit transfusion reactions. According to the vet, multiple blood tranfusion is riskier to dogs compared to humans.

We badly need your help. His name is Jack, 7 months old, and currently battling Ehrlichiosis. The vets believe he's on the chronic stage of the disease since all his blood values (rbc, wbc, platelet) are extremely low. Also, they think he might have already developed IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) in which his own immune system mistakenly attacks his red blood cells, resulting to anemia. We're only on our 5th day of treatment, his blood tests shows no signs of improvement. But, we're not stopping treatment and we're going to fight with him.

Sept 28- First sign we noticed something's wrong with him, he vomited. We brought him to a nearby vet and diagnostics confirmed he has ehrlichiosis and very low blood values. They suggested we do blood transfusion. Brought to another vet to see further help, and he referred us to Pendragon.

Sept 29- He was rushed early in the morning to Pendragon. First bag of packed red blood cell was transfused, and so is plasma (platelet). As expected, his blood values improved, but are still way too low (around only 10% from the lowest possible value)

Sept 30- All possible treatment options were already initiated (antibiotics, plasma infusion, supplements that aids blood production, all proven herbal remedies to increase blood products, steroids to suppress the immune system in cade of IMHA). Name it, we've already done it.

Oct 1- 2nd day after blood transfusion. Blood values went low, platelet went up (maybe because of continuous plasma infusion). Still has good appetite, but seems to be really thirsty every time we visit him.

Oct 2- 3rd day after blood transfusion. All his blood values went down. It's been four days and he hasn't pooped and we thought he's not getting better because of the hospital environment, plus, we only get to see him a few hours per day. We we're allowed to bring him home, with ongoing intravenous fluid because I'm a nurse. Upon arrival, he seemed very happy, but weak. We're able to monitor him all through the night.

Oct 3- He was able to poop in the morning, as suspected, we felt he's not comfortable in the hospital. Daily blood monitoring isn't done yet, however, given the trend these past few days, i'm afraid it has decreased, yet again. Also, this is the first day he urinated blood.
