The story of JAAGO started with one man’s dream of doing something extraordinary for the ordinary people of Bangladesh. In 2007, Korvi Rakshand, a 21 years old youth from an upper echelon family, was determined to bring a change in the society’s belief towards educational institutions.
He established JAAGO Foundation aiming to provide free of cost quality education to the underprivileged children coming from the lower socio-economic background.
The journey started in a small room with 17 students, a whiteboard and a carpet.
Today, we have 3000 students studying in 12 districts of Bangladesh.- Dhaka (Banani, Rayer Bazar), Chattogram, Rajshahi, Gaibandha, Madaripur, Bandarban, Lakshmipur, Habiganj, Dinajpur, Rangpur and Teknaf.
Realizing the immense potential of youth, Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD), the youth wing of JAAGO Foundation was formed in 2011.
VBD combines the spirit of volunteerism with the strength and goodwill of youth for bringing substantial social change and raising awareness among the masses.
Today, this nationwide youth platform presently exists in 32 districts and has around 30,000 registered volunteers across the country.
