I'm Inna and it's my dream to be an Expressive Arts Therapist. In the Philippines, not many are aware and accepting of mental health care. People with mental health problems are still labeled as “crazy” and in some cases, they are believed to be “punished by God.” Coming from a third world country where people generally aren’t open to the idea of mental health and therapy, I believe Expressive Arts Therapy is the best approach to bridge this gap because culturally, Filipinos love expressing themselves through music, dance, and more however, there are only a handful of therapists specializing in expressive arts.
I envision a (mentally) healthier Philippines with empowered individuals most especially people with special needs and pediatric cancer patients--the two social sectors that are closest to my heart.
With God's grace, I got accepted into California Institute of Integral Studies and now all that's left is to have proof that I can afford a year's worth of studies. The tuition for 2 semesters is roughly $20,000 while living expenses are estimated to be $30,000. I'm targeting to raise at least half of the $50,000 with the help of my family and relatives so I'm counting on you to help me reach the other half. Help me grab this opportunity to change the course of Filipino's lives with mental health care.
