Key facts

• Every year, an estimated 15 million babies are born preterm (before 37 completed weeks of gestation), and this number is rising.
• Preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under 5 years of age, responsible for approximately 1 million deaths in 2015.
• Three-quarters of these deaths could be prevented with current, cost-effective interventions.

Preterm is defined as babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed.

The problem

More than 60% of preterm births occur in Africa and South Asia, but preterm birth is truly a global problem. In the lower-income countries, on average, 12% of babies are born too early compared with 9% in higher-income countries. Within countries, poorer families are at higher risk.

In Egypt, 100,000 infants are dying each year due to a chronic shortage of infant incubators in units caring for prematurely-born or under-grown babies (Preterm ). The infant incubators are very expensive in Egypt because it comes from Germany and the USA.

The solution

The best solution for this problem is to manufacture low-cost infant incubators and caring units for those children.

We already starting to create it, but we need more support to develop the product and make it more affordable for the neighboring countries.

Also our aim to make free health care for infants to help more peoples who can not pay the treatment for their children.
