ABOUT 'REVBANTU' MUSA (PASTOR MUSA) AND SORTEDLIFE MINISTRIES

Born and raised in two very poor communities, one being one of the largest slums in Africa and the largest in Kenya - Kibera, Pastor Musa as he is popularly referred to by his current community members in Chakama, Malindi (where God sent him to inspire transformation through faith shared in words and action), made in his mind that his life and those of people around him was never going to be the same.

Pastor Musa was blessed enough to finish both primary and secondary schools and even proceeded to study abroad and to graduate from campus despite many challenges such as lack of consistent school fees and supplies, food, clothing, and sometimes sickness, that saw him miss school many times, and to go do menial jobs for neighbors to earn some little money to help support his family with bills. He looks back and feels so hard by the thought of many trees he cut down to burn charcoal and sell firewood to earn money. The effects of those activities caused by poverty are devastating now, even as he tries to plant more trees to make up.

Through resilience, hard work, and a determination to transform his life and that of others, Pastor Musa started Sortedlife Husuka-Afrika Group, a charitable NGO that runs several programs aimed at empowering, and developing especially children, youth, and women, who are often the most affected by socioeconomic challenges and injustices. Some of these include;

1. Sortedlife International School and Leadership Institute - which enrolls children from playgroup level and aims to give them holistic education up to the level that they can be stable and independent. The students at this learning center are all sponsored by individuals; who commit to paying their school fees, medical health, school supplies, meals, etc, for at least a term and up onwards depending on their ability.

2. Fichua Somo Scholarship Program - which is raising funds for students in high school, college, tertiary learning institutions, and universities. Fichua Somo is a Swahili word for the act of unearthing education.

3. Sports and Talents Development - aims at helping young people discover their different talents and gifts in arts, sports, music, fashion, etc, enhance them and use them for self-improvement and a better lifestyle.

4. Soap and Detergent Making Project - for women, which helps them increase their income capacity and be able to reduce the baggage of struggling to pay bills.

5. School Assemblies and Clubs - weekly mentorship programs that help students in both primary and secondary to learn life skills; discover their strengths, and abilities, in order to align with the right company.

6. Gender-Based Violence Prevention Clubs - aims to advocate and sensitive the community on and against GBV and the importance of peaceful coexistence in both families set up and the community.

7. Alcohol, Drugs, and Substance Abuse Prevention (ADSAP) - advocates for and sensitizes on prevention, of alcohol, drugs, and substance use and or abuse; using evident-based intervention programs such as sports for development, arts, music, etc.

8. Teenage and Young Single Mothers Support (TYSMS) - helps teenage and young single mothers and expectant ones to cope with life and stigma.

9. Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and HIV and AIDS Advocacy, Prevention and Support - help the community on issues (SRHR and HIV/AIDS, and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and how to cope with stigma and stay healthy if already infected or affected.

10. Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) - aims at sensitizing the community on the value and importance of clean water, body, environment, and so on.

We work with various stakeholders and partners to make sure that each of the above programs is running effectively and producing transformative and lasting results.
