January 26, 2022 - the day I gave birth to our little princess Yvonne Elisse “Baby Iya”, our only girl since we have two lovable boys (age 11 and 7). Unfortunately, our baby stayed in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) for 29 days as she suffered from PPHN (Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension in the Neonate) because of the Meconium that entered her lungs. From day 1 to day 23, she was intubated and connected into a ventilator to help her breathe. She went to 7 medication (7 types of medicine to be exact) to help her fight the infection. On day 5, she undergone blood transfusion because of her low hemoglobin level. On day 6, her lungs bled due to pneumonia and needs to undergo DVET (Double Volume Exchange Transfusion) to clean her blood. The DVET procedure was done on her 11th day of life and became successful. Her vital signs improved. Her heart rate decreases from 200bpm to 140-160bpm. Her doctors lessen her medicine dosages. And from there after, she’s under monitoring for further improvement since she also suffers from pneumonia. We were also advised by her Neonatologist before her discharge, she needs to undergo head ultrasound to check if there are irregularities in her brain and an eye check up. Fortunately, both exams were in good shape. And on her 29th day, we were given a discharged order.

We have an HMO card amounting ₱300k but it was exhausted since day 3. Our account in the hospital was closed as we already reached the credit limit. We need to spent on a cash basis and our savings were used up. We are now financially challenged. We opt to transfer her in a public hospital but in her current state that time, it is very critical and may risk her life during transport. We were just very lucky to have friends, relatives and family who support us on Baby Iya’s day to day needs such as; medicine, medical supplies, laboratory tests, etc.

Never in my imagination we will go through this, but for the sake of our little princess, I am begging and knocking your gracious hearts to help us financially.

Today, we are still in the hospital due to our bill went up to ₱1,517,742.26. As a rank and file employees, we cannot afford the said amount. We are in the process of seeking financial assistance to different government agencies, however, it will not suffice the said amount.

Again, I am knocking on your gracious hearts to please help us.

Respectfully,

Ida Sara Abad (Mother)
