Hope and life for Angel

We are imploring for your continued financial support and prayers for our daughter, Angel.

On Dec 22, we rushed her to the hospital because her seizures were uncontrollable. She was admitted and was put in the ICU ever since. It is almost a month now and our daughter is still in critical condition.

When Angel was only 5 years old, she was diagnosed with Hypomelanosis of Ito (HI), which is a rare congenital condition that causes our daughter to suffer from mental disability and severe seizures that are resistant to therapy

Angel is 18 years old now and Philippine Children’s Pediatric Hospital has been like our second home - we have been in and out of the hospital several times in a year because of her condition since she was 5.

Her regular medical treatment alone costs about PHP15,000 a month, which takes a big chunk of our meager income. My husband works in a playland store in Dubai, but due to COVID, his salary was cut in half. I, on the other hand, used to be employed. However, because of Angel’s situation, I had to quit my work so I can look after her. To help out with the finances, I sell just about anything online. Angel has 2 siblings that we also need to support and take care of.

On her good days, Angel goes to a public Special Education (SPED). She is supposed to be in level 2. Her dream was to become a SPED teacher herself someday.

She loves to listen to Praise songs and her favorites are Just Be Held by Casting Crowns and Healer by Kari Jobe. Angel also loves to sing, in fact she sings at our church’s choir.

Our medical bills are soaring because of the medicines and procedures that she is undergoing. Last week, Angel underwent Tracheostomy because she has been in ventilatory support for too long and it has started to cause infections. She has been on IV for too long, her veins can no longer handle it. A centralized port was placed on her so the doctors can continue to administer her medicines.

So far our medical bill is now at PHP500,000 mark. While we are very thankful to all the people who already sent their help, we are afraid that we may not be able to sustain her medical needs.

To make matters worst, because of COVID, I can only see my daughter on video calls set by the good nurses and doctors at the hospital. It hurts to the core to see my daughter in pain and not being able to hug and kiss her. I can only assure her that everything will be all right... if only I can carry all her pain.

We are helpless on our own, but with God and His hands through you, we believe that we will get through this. We may not be able to repay you, but you will always be in our prayers
