This is a page launched by Uno’s cousins to help him fund his medical bills.
“My name is Uno Santa Ana. I am a freshman at UP Los Baños currently taking up BA Communication Arts. As the eldest of two children, I thought I was about to start my journey towards doing well in school and eventually finding a job to provide for our family. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia this May.
It all started with severe headaches whenever I exerted little effort in walking or going up the stairs. Last April 29, I decided to take a complete blood test and have a check-up with a Neurologist in St. Lukes. My blood counts, especially my Hemoglobin, White Blood Cells and Platelets were all alarmingly low and was advised to be admitted right away. However, the bill was starting to balloon so I was transferred to another hospital where I was confined for a week. I underwent blood/platelet transfusions and a bone marrow biopsy was performed to determine the cause of my very low blood count. The biopsy results came out on May 9, specifiying that I had Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL).
I am now confined in the hospital and about to start my chemotherapy sessions. My doctor also told me that I would need to finish more or less 9-10 bottles of Atra for my treatment and one bottle costs about Php 9,100. This type of medicine is also hard to find in the Philippines since the supply is very limited.
I am appealing to your kind and generous souls to help me and my family raise the funds needed for my hospitalization and treatment. Whatever the amount may be, please know that it will surely go a long way. Thank you so much.” - Uno
