Dearest friends,family and community, help our mom beat Stage 3 of Ovarian Cancer

Our mom responded well with her Chemotherapy and she successfully took her last session on September 18, 2020. From 8cm(left) & 4cm(right), it’s now 2cm. Malou had 7 sessions of Chemotherapy and every session costs about PHP 60,000+ ($1,100+).
And thank goodness we were able to avail a loan for about PHP 680,000($14,000+). But our total expense still reached PHP 700,000 ($10000).

After the successful Chemotherapy sessions, we thought that our mom doesn’t need surgery anymore. But as we talked to our mom’s doctor, she still needs to undergo Ovarian Cancer Tumor Debulking to clearly remove the cancer cells in her ovary so it’ll no longer come back. We did not expect that she still needs surgery after her chemo sessions because before, we were told that surgery is pretty risky for her age.

We were given a Cost Estimate of Cancer Staging Surgery last September 30,2020. The procedure will cost PHP 470,000 - 490,000 ($9000-$10000+) which is very expensive. And we can’t afford to pay that in an instant.

We are still paying the loan we availed this year and we no longer know where we can get that huge amount of money most especially this time of pandemic.

We created this fund for financial assistance in her surgery that will lie ahead this month.(1st Week of October).

This is another heavy loss of income to us. Our family will be so grateful for anything that you can offer, whether it’s a small amount or even a prayer and a share will do to beat this life threatening disease. Your contribution will go towards her medical bills as well as to cover current and future medical expenses.

Here is a background on where it all started up to where we are today.

On December 27, Malou was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. 60 years old and without medical insurance. She underwent Chemotherapy last September 18, 2020 and every session costs about 60,000 pesos+ ($1,100+). And it went successfully. Before she was diagnosed with cancer around December 15, she felt some stomach discomfort and wasn’t able to lose her bowel well. She noticed that her belly was getting bloated. So we decided to take her to the hospital on December 26 and took a CT Scan. On December 27, they saw that she has a mass in her ovary and all over in her abdomen that is about 8cm(left) & 4cm(right). After the results, she was confined in the hospital until December 30. She underwent Gastro Colonoscopy which is thorough cleansing of the entire bowel so that fluids coming from the tumor can be removed. And that was done until January 2. On that day, they had successfully removed the fluids (3 liters) from the tumor. We have been able to pay out of pocket for the ultrasound, scans, lab works, medicine, doctor’s visit and removal of fluids which costs about 250,000 pesos + ($4900+) .

After all of it, we are referred to transfer to a public hospital (Philippine General Hospital) for the biopsy of the tumor, which was on January 7 because we can no longer afford to pay the biopsy at the hospital we’re staying at.

On February 4, the doctors rushed the removal of fluids ‘cause she’s feeling an intense pain from it. They removed 4.5 liters of fluid from her tumor successfully.

We still have so far to go and we hope everything will go well. We know how strong our mom is and your help means so much to us.
