Greetings friends and family!
During the month of February 2014 I will be travelling to Amman, Jordan to volunteer with an organization that collects and distributes critical humanitarian goods to Syrian refugees living in Jordan. The organization, Helping Refugees in Jordan, accepts both donated goods and monetary donations. But the most impactful way of helping is by making a financial contribution.
If you donate to my funding page, I will be directly responsible for your donation and will ensure that it goes to purchasing the most critically needed humanitarian items. In fact, I will be the one purchasing and distributing the items. Even just $5 can get a child in need a pair of mittens, warm socks, and a winter hat.
100% of funds received will go to humanitarian goods for refugee children and families in need.
I hope you consider making a financial contribution to this cause, as it will help out Syrian refugee families and children who are in desperate need of basic items. The Syrian Civil War is now in its 3rd year and to date has killed over 100,000, half of whom are civilians. An average of 6,000 Syrians flee to neighboring countries each day with little more than the clothes on their backs. Jordan houses the second largest Syrian refugee population, of which the United Nations estimates half are children under the age of 18. These children are desperate, living amongst horrendous sanitation conditions and subjected to environmental extremes. This winter refugees in Jordan have experienced an unusually cold winter with hardly any clothing or blankets to keep them warm.
Thank you very much, and happy New Years!
