Helping Poor In Remote Community In Bangladesh

Summary

Rohingya from Rakhaine State - Myanmar became the most important humanitarian crisis within the 21st Century. Since August, 2017 they need faced violence and been forced to go away everything behind. Until now, hundreds of thousands have fled their birthplace. The BACHAO Welfare Project (BWP) aims to support the physical and mental well-being of those disenfranchised children by providing them with a secure space where they will engage in regular childhood social experiences, learning and emotional healing.

Challenge

Since the violence against the Rohingya community has started, over 1 million have fled Myanmar. These refugee children are growing up with the trauma of war and destruction. Hundreds of children in the camps have been separated from their families, and the numbers continue to grow daily. They have been exposed to trauma on an extreme scale. This situation is affecting the growing phase of these children mentally and physically.

Solution

To resolve this significant situation, shelter project aims to supply counselling by psychotherapist MD. Rafikul Alam Shaon to supply mental relief and psychosocial support to 500 children. In addition, Safe Haven has designed 3 programmatic activities to help to these children, both mentally and physically - Digital Zone, Play Zone and Creative and Learning Zone.

Long-Term Impact

With the number of activities designed by this project children can have child-friendly spaces in the camps with child protection officers and teachers. This will help the youngsters to effectively get over their bad experiences and contribute to returning to their normal life.
