Hand surgery for the Road Cycling Champion of Moldova

Hello, my name is Anna, Im from Moldova! :)

I am 35 years old and I am a mother of a child with disabilities. Also I’m a professional road cyclist.
I am the National Champion of the Republic of Moldova 2022.

For me it’s more than a hobby or a professional occupation, it is something that makes my life full of happiness and it’s very important part of my life.

22 august me and my cycling friends were on the road making training. During this we got into a car accident. I was hit by a driver who did not follow the rules and turned out into the opposite lane of the road. My arm was damaged a lot, I almost lost it because the surgeons predicted me amputation.

As a result it took 2 operations for saving the hand and there is at least one more to come.

There was a serious open fracture. Both radius bones are broken. The hand was actually torn off. Doctors have sewn soft tissues and nerve fibers, but the bones are still broken, because large parts of them (~5 cm and 3 cm) are missing.

Now my hand is in the Ilizarov apparatus and is incapacitated.

Now I need surgery to transplant part of my hip bone. I made a request to a Medical centre in Germany, because this operation is very serious and difficult. I received a response and a price list attached to it. The operation is very expensive (60000$). This is amount that our family will not be able to raise by itself.

This operation should be started as soon as possible otherwise I risk to lose my arm forever. I can’t imagine how I will make sports and take care about my child, who already need special conditions.
