Help Yesmin To Pay Her Education Dues

Every early morning we wake up for our morning prayers. My mother wakes me up and we finish our prayers together then we cook. After preparing breakfast for me and my father, she goes to her job. She works as a servant in people’s houses. It hurts me to see my mother going to work as a maid. I don’t want to see this anymore. I want to complete my education and I want to be a doctor. This way I could earn enough money so that my mother does not need to go to other people’s houses and be a servant.

We live in a slum near the railway station. My father is a rickshaw puller. They are working hard for me and for my education. In this slum 80% of the girls do not go to school but I never skip a single day of going to school. My parents are illiterate but intellectually literate. They never went to school but they are enlightened from the inside. They say without education nothing happens in this world anymore. My mother always says “maa you have to go to school and educate yourself; I don’t want to see you going to other people’s houses to work”. I am really working hard and reading extra hours to fulfill my ambitions.

I love going to school. The environment of our school is really good and I can mingle with my friends. I learn so many things every day at my school. _Yesmin. Class 4
