Help Viki recover from Breast Cancer, loss of job and loss of home..

After being misdiagnosed – “It’s probably just a cyst,” and with the country in Level 4 lockdown due to Covid, Viki learned three months later, she had Grade 3 Invasive Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, at age 43.

She then had to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy before a Double Mastectomy, followed by 9 weeks of chemo pills thereafter, Radiation therapy and pending hormone treatment and in between it all, continued events of going back and forth to the hospital for numerous traumatic events including two Blood transfusions, reopening of one of the wounds because of blood collecting (Haematoma) and a rare life-threatening illness of the stomach (Colitis- due to chemo pills) losing almost 60% of her muscle mass.

During this process, Viki inevitably could not carry on her job as an estate agent and to make matters worse her husband’s employment was terminated (5 months into her treatment), due to the impact Covid had on the business where he was working.

They had to give up their place of residence due to lack of funds (Dec) and unfortunately because of this (not having an address of residence) their daughter (12 years old) could not start High school in January.

They are living on handouts and alternate staying with friends here and there, living out of their suitcases. While her parents (who are pensioners and living with her brother in her country of birth) look helplessly on as they cannot help financially or fly over due to Covid restrictions to assist Viki in her plight.

A situation like this is enough to send anyone off their orbit but Viki has remained incredibly strong and positive. Her faith has given her the strength to move forward. She hopes to lead by example for her daughter, teaching her, “no matter what life throws at you, never give up. Pick yourself up and go on”.

Viki urgently needs help in getting her and her family back on their feet to carry on with her treatment, resettlement costs and paying back debt incurred.
