HELP VICENTE

Please help my cousin Vicente B. Omiter. We call him "Manoy" which means older brother and also used as a sign of respect. He is an amputee, on both legs. It was due to a medical condition he suffered from a work related accident years prior. He fell from the third floor of a building where he was working as a welder. Miraculously he survived and hospitalized but was not able to monitor other related injury he incurred. It was a year or two when symptoms of his unseen injury on both his legs appeared. He went through several surgeries, cutting part of a leg and another then ended on both of his legs amputated.

I know that my Manoy Vicente is a fighter. He taught himself to work even with his disability by learning to repair shoes and bags. He then learned to saw using an electric sewing machine given to him by one of his friend. He sews small cleaning rags out of fabric clippings.

He now resides in Bitin, Bay, Laguna and a sole financial provider of the family of three. He lives with his mother (my aunt) and an eight year old nephew from his deceased brother. My siblings and I are helping them little by little as much as we can specially with the school needs of our nephew. However, the circumstances get harder. Manoy had a stroke early this year. My aunt has a breast infection that we fear to be in a serious state since she was not able to have it medically checked for more than 10 years. Aside from their daily struggle on food and medical needs, the saddest part is that the only safe place they could stay, their HUT, is in the verge of collapsing.

Manoy Vicente is asking for help. Primarily means which he could make a living. He wanted to have supplies for sewing and shoe repair. This is the only job he is capable of doing in his wheelchair right now. He also needs to have the hut fix before the storm season begin. It is a life threatening situation for them.

With the serious talk we had during my last visit when we brought him a new wheelchair donated by my sister's co-worker, he said that he accepts his fate as an amputee and poor, but he will try his best to live for his family despite that there could be days that there will be no food on the table. Hope is there. Help is needed.
