Campaign Story
What is Patmos Island School
Patmos Island School was founded in 2012 by Mr. Nzinyangwa Joel Mmbaga, an Accountant and teacher who recognized that educated citizens are the basis of a prosperous economy and society. His dream was to offer quality education to the children of Arusha, including the underprivileged children, such as those coming from orphanages and poor families.
Patmos' aim is to provide an effective educational environment, through which each and every child receives engaging experiences that will nurture one’s full potential.
Today 49 students between 3 and 12 years old are attending the school, among which 34 are non paying students, coming from a challenging situation because of which they have no support system at home.
Our Project
One of the pressing issues we aim to address is the condition of the classroom floors. Due to the salty impact from the ground and the presence of holes, the current state of the floors makes it difficult for the students to focus on their education. These obstacles not only pose safety risks but also hinder their overall learning experience.
To create a more conducive learning environment, we have initiated a project to place floor tiles in five classrooms. The estimated cost for this endeavor is USD 1,750 in total, with each classroom requiring USD 350. By installing floor tiles, we can effectively address various floor issues such as hazardous holes in the floor, safeguarding the students from potential accidents. These tiles also combat the challenge of high humidity, ensuring a comfortable and conducive learning environment. Additionally, the even and level surface created by these tiles eradicates tripping hazards and allows the students to move freely without worry. Moreover, the tiles' smooth edges protect them from sharp edges, providing a safe space for them to study, play, and participate in their daily activities with confidence.
This is where your support becomes invaluable. We are reaching out to generous individuals like yourself to contribute towards this project and make a lasting impact on the lives of these young learners. Your donation, no matter the size, will directly go towards purchasing the necessary materials and covering the labor costs associated with the installation.
Imagine the joy and excitement on the students' faces when they walk into their transformed classrooms. With your support, we can help them thrive in an environment that fosters growth and empowers them to reach their full potential.
